Review: Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver

*this review may contain spoilers*

Title: Pandemonium
Author: Lauren Oliver
Series: Delirium
Pages: 379
Genre: YA, Dystopia, Romance

I'm pushing aside the memory of my nightmare,
pushing aside thoughts of Alex,
pushing aside thoughts of Hana and my old school,
like Raven taught me to do.
The old life is dead.
But the old Lena is dead too.
I buried her.
I left her beyond a fence,
behind a wall of smoke and flame.

After the cliffhanger in Delirium I was so very curious about reading Pandemonium.
And I think I am happy I did.

There was almost no introduction to the novel or review of what happened in Delirium. This story went straight up where Delirium stopped. Whe got right into the action of the story. And I am happy for it. Because sometimes you got a lot of review in a second book, and I think it is not necessary.

Pandemonium is a very different story than Delirium with a lot of emotions, like angst, confusion, happiness, pain... This is also a story with a lot more action and excitement events.

In this book Lena learns to push her old life out of her way and begins a new one in the wilds. With a lot new people who are learning her to live the way they do. And I can tell you that Lena have to deal with a lot of horrible situations. But she got only stronger because of these situations. And I can’t blame her. It is or dying or growing stronger and live your new life.

What I also love about this new book is the fact that Pandemonium tells two stories simultaneously, both Lena’s. But one is taking place immediatly after she got in the wilds and the other about a few months later. First I was really confused with this, but after the first part of the book I really liked it.

And what about romance in this story? You think there isn’t any of this. But there are a few new characters and Julian is one of them. He and Alex are like black and white, night and day, the complete opposites of each other. Julian stood for everything Alex was against. Lena and Julian met each other under some tight circumstanses, and they really don’t like each other at first. But when your life depends on each other you got to learn to become close with each other, to trust each other. And from one thing comes another. I think it was very clear that there became a kind of chemistry and attraction between them. But I think you read that for your self. :D Because it is sweet but also confusing.

So let me tell you that I really liked this story and the new Lena. She became a really tough girl. The story was very different from Delirium but sooo great. But let me tell you that I was a little irritated when I read the last page of this book. A big fat cliffhanger? Again? Why Lauren? Why?

First I gave this book 3 stars/masks but when I started this review and I was thinking back at this story, I thought it really deserves 4 stars/masks.

Feature & Follow Friday (7)

Time for Feature and Follow Friday!
This meme is hosted by Parajunky and Alison can read. I like this meme, every friday there are quistions about books. And I had a long time thinking about my answer to this quistion.

The quistion is:
Have you had a character that disappointed you? One that you fell in love with and then "broke up" with later on in either the series or a stand-alone book? Tell us about him or her.

My answer:
For this quistion I was really looking true al my books and thinking about the characters. And after a long time thinking I came up with my answer.
Let me tell you that I am talking about soul screamers by Rachel Vincent. I love those books. They are sooo great. And (without telling you any spoilers) I really loved Nash, Kaylee's very handsome and very sweet almost-boyfriend. But after reading my soul to keep (I think it was this one ore the next) I really hate him. He acts sooo selfish. But (for the one who have read al of these books, they know what I am talking about) I think part of it is because of his addiction. But that's no excuse. And I really like a nother character in this book so much more.

Memorable Monday 5

It's time for Memorable Monday! This meme is hosted by Mari. And I really like this meme.

The quote that I will share with you is soo funny I almost peed my self. Lol.
Let me tell you I sometimes overreact. But this time I didn't overreact. I think. And I really couldn't stop laughing the first minutes after reading this.

Let me tell you first which book it is. I am already a BIG fan of this author. It was First Grave on the Right by Darynda Jones

And now the quote:

“My fore-parts, as you so ineloquently put it, have names." I pointed to my right breast. "This is Danger." Then my left. "And this is Will Robinson. I would appreciate it if you addressed them accordingly.

After a long pause in which he took the time to blink several times, he asked, "You named your breasts?"
I turned my back to him with a shrug. "I named my ovaries, too, but they don't get out as much."

I hope you enjoyed my quote.

Have a nice monday. Mariska

Feature & Follow Friday (6)

It's already time for a nother Feature & Follow Friday!
This meme is hosted by Parajunky and Alison can read.

And the quistion of this week is:
Q: What is one book that you would be nervous to see a movie adaption of because you think the movie could never live up to the book?

A: That's a good one. I really think that a book should stay a book. And don't make a movie out if it. But that's me. But if I should choose a book, it would be one of the books of Cassandra Clare. I am a big fan of her books and I really can't see it in a movie. It wouldn't be right for me. And I think it never be as good as the books.

What do you think? Let me know I am very curious about your choice.
Have a nice day! Mariska And let me remind you of my giveaway. The button is on the left side of this blog :D

At the moment I am exually reading 3 books, sort of....
I am not happy to say this but I can't read this book for a while. It's stays borring :(

This is a fantastic story!! And I can't wait to read the next one :D

And this wonderful story. :D

The last book I finished reading was a great book, but not as great as some other books I have read. It was nice to read a nother kind of story then I usually do. But there where a few things I had my quistions with (without telling you any spoilers). Everything is going soo fast in this story. Oke, I now that it is suppused to go fast because of the test and everything. And I don't think I would act so normal after al of this. But I am not Kate so maybe that is the reason. :D

And the next book I read would be Pandemonium. I already got them in my mail and I am sooo very curious about this story :D

And this time the quistion is:

Q: Have you ever bought a book BECAUSE of a bad review?

A: I really don't think that I especially read a book because of a bad review. But I often read the reviews of other people on goodreads. And when I really think it's a good book even if a lot of people gave them bad reviews I really like to read them, and see it for my self.

What about you guys?

WWW Wednesday #1

Hi everyone. This is my first post about this meme. It is hosted by Shouldbereading and to play along you just have to answer 3 quistions.

* What are you currently reading?
* What did you recently finish reading?
* What do you think you’ll read next?

I am currently reading:
Linger by Maggie Stiefvater. And I can tell you it takes me awhile because it is a little bit boring. Sorry about that guys :(

The book I recently finish was:
Exile by Rebecca Lim. First I never thought that after reading Mercy I should read Exile. But it was a good price at bookdepository and I thought I give it a try. And I read this book in 2 days!! It was sooo easy to read and I can't wait to read Muse :D

And the next book I probably read is one of these 3 (because I am waiting for them to come in my mail :D):
*First grave on the right by Darynda Jones
*Moon Called by Patricia Briggs
*Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver

Which one do you prefer?

Have a nice wednesday :D
