Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare
Magic is dangerous--but love is more dangerous still.
When sixteen-year-old Tessa Gray crosses the ocean to find her brother, her destination is England, the time is the reign of Queen Victoria, and something terrifying is waiting for her in London's Downworld, where vampires, warlocks and other supernatural folk stalk the gaslit streets. Only the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the world of demons, keep order amidst the chaos.
Kidnapped by the mysterious Dark Sisters, members of a secret organization called The Pandemonium Club, Tessa soon learns that she herself is a Downworlder with a rare ability: the power to transform, at will, into another person. What's more, the Magister, the shadowy figure who runs the Club, will stop at nothing to claim Tessa's power for his own.
Friendless and hunted, Tessa takes refuge with the Shadowhunters of the London Institute, who swear to find her brother if she will use her power to help them. She soon finds herself fascinated by--and torn between--two best friends: James, whose fragile beauty hides a deadly secret, and blue-eyed Will, whose caustic wit and volatile moods keep everyone in his life at arm's length...everyone, that is, but Tessa. As their search draws them deep into the heart of an arcane plot that threatens to destroy the Shadowhunters, Tessa realizes that she may need to choose between saving her brother and helping her new friends save the world...and that love may be the most dangerous magic of all.

Thoughts:
What a fantastic book! I like the writing styl that Cassandra Clare has.
In this book we'll meet Tessa a sweet girl that is looking for her brother. He is the only family she still have and he is missing. In her search to find her brother she will be kidnapped by the dark sisters. And with the dark sisters she'll find out she can do a lot more than being only a 16 year old girl. And its creepy. Thats what I think. And I think I really freak out, more than Tessa thit.
And then...the dark sisters would like to introduce Tessa to the Magister. When she finds out what is realy going an, shes being rescued by handsome Will. After leaving the Dark Sisters, she lives in the Institute, which is the home to Shadowhunters.
Then the first part of Tessa's story in the Institute she is being introduced to the Shadowhunters. And I can say that those people are really interesting to read about. Everyone of them is different but lovely in there own way. I adore the character Jem. And I dont know what I should think about Will. But Tessa is challenging herself to find out who Will is and what has happened to him. And she falls in love. But he is just some stupid boy. And I really think she should just go with Jem. Jem is such a sweet boy. But that's just what I think about it.
Oh...and there will be a lot ofaction in the last part of the book. It was sooo exciting to read. And I think that Tessa suprised everyone with her actions.
I cant wait to read Clockwork Prince. And I will let you know how I think about that book.

Hi Mariska,
BeantwoordenVerwijderenNice to see you started a book blog as well! And even nicer to read you're gonna be writing bigger reviews from now on:P There's nothing more difficult than putting into words WHY you like a book so much!
Believe me when I say that once you know WHY Will acts the way he does, you'll understand him a whole lot better. You will feel terribly sorry for him.
In about a week or so you'll hopefully be reading and already in the first few pages of 'Clockwork Prince', you'll find out about Wills feelings for Tessa. Not that they weren't obvious in the first place, though.
A few tips: you spell 'Rating' without an 'i' and Cassandra CLARE is also without an 'i' but with an 'e' at the end. These little mistakes may help you a long way, especially when it comes to tagging. People tend to fall over obvious mistakes like misspelling an author's name and such and that will keep them from following your blog.
Good luck and we'll visit each other! ;) www.blythesandbooks.blogspot.com
